Creativity manifests itself differently.
Here’s what it looks like for me.
BLOGGING
Since I was 12, I have been obsessed with how stories are told across different channels. Books get turned into movies. Games get turned into tv shows.
All because there’s inherent value in a compelling story that demands itself to be told, interacted with, and loved by many around the world.
The blog Read. Write. Play. is where I ramble about my thoughts and predictions for the multimedia landscape.
PUBLISHING
One of my favorite things to do is to take pictures of art in museums that look like they could be memes.
Doesn’t she look like she’s annoyed at you for interrupting a good book?
I hope my readers look like this when interrupted from reading my books!
It’s a young adult (borderline new adult) science fiction novel about secret mutant societies and escalating global politics told in multiple points of view.
I’m working on a prequel right now. Hoping to release it summer 2025! In the meantime, I’ve got fun merch like t-shirts, beanies –and if you email me– I’ve got tea inspired by the character Blackbird I can ship you. While supplies last of course.
INTERACTIVE/ IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCES
As I work toward building a multimedia franchise out of Vicious Circle, I’m exploring different was to engage with the art of a story. When I released by book, I had all sorts of merch ideas some of which you can browse and buy online.
I’m a part-time graduate student at NYU Gallatin and my thesis may end up becoming a pop-up event meant to immerse people in the world of Vicious Circle. So I’m working on prototypes and proofs of concepts for a range of ways a story can be told –short films, narrative video games, food and beverages, merchandise, etc etc.
If you want to stay up to date on all the projects and be a part of the journey with me, follow me on social media or sign up for my newsletter.
VLOGGING/FILMMAKING
While I haven’t been the best at uploading regularly to YouTube, I do enjoy vlogging. I’m constantly capturing video content and may eventually do retroactive vlogs (when I have the time).
In the fall, I’m taking a documentary filmmaking class in the fall so I hope to expand my skillsets in capturing people and moments in time.
Until then, I’m wrapping up post-production on my first short film, Assimilate, which is based on a few scenes from Vicious Circle. A screening party will take place in the late summer/early fall if all goes well!
I’ll be using FilmHub to distribute the film across different platforms. So, stay tuned for where you can stream it!
The goal is to leverage the short film as a fundraising tool for a web series (or maybe a tv series if SyFy would like to hit me up!) in the future.
